We studied operative results of coronary artery bypass grafting (CABG) on 80 cases at our institution from January 1986 to December 1990. Furthermore, long term graft patency was investigated in 10 cases ten years following surgery. In recent five years there was no operative death and one hospital death. Perioperative myocardial infarction occured in 8 patients (10%). Intraaortic balloon pump was used in 25 cases (31.3%) including 17 patients who were … assisted prior to cardiopulmonary bypass. The total number of implanted grafts was 171 (2.14 grafts per patient), and the early patency rate was 83.6% one to three months post operatively. There was no significant difference on patency rate between saphenous vein grafts and internal thoratic artery grafts. The graft patency was well-preserved provided the graft flow exceeded 60ml/min and internal diameter of anastmotic site was over 2mm. Fourteen SVG patency in 10 patients was recomfirmed using digital subtraction angiography. Long term graft patency was 78% and the graft patency to LAD was 88.1%.
