概要: The concept of literacy is multi-layered and complex. Japanese language education, with its study of ‘kanji’, has a spec ific concept of literacy that differs from other languages. The current model of literacy in Japanese language education focuses on improving skills such as reading, writing and speaking. However, students can develop a deeper understanding of texts when they have an appreciation of the context in which they were written. Use of the new model, in which understanding of context added to the traditional emphasis on basic skills, can help students enhance their understanding texts written in the Japanese language. 続きを見る

概要: A text is usually composed of more than one sentence. To create a meaningful text, sentences in it must be tied with eac h other in some kind of connective relationship. Conjunctive expressions are one of the significant means to achieve this goal, which is probably true of all languages in the world. Linguistic research, however, has shown that those conjunctive expressions and ways of their classification into groups are different in kind among individual language. This paper, based upon the findings of preceding research, compared the types of Japanese conjunctive expressions with the types of Chinese counterparts in terms of their connective meanings and grammatical functions. Our findings are as follows: ⑴ The five types of Japanese conjunctive expressions,‘ junsetsu‘’, gyakusetsu’,‘ tenka’, ‘taihi’ and ‘rensa’ correspond to the five types of counterparts in Chinese ‘Renshi’. ⑵ The Japanese types classified as ‘tenkan’, ‘hosoku’ and ‘douretsu’ correspond to Chinese‘ setsuzoku-ku’ (conjuctive phrases), not‘ Renshi’. ⑶ The three types of ‘kasetsu’, ‘jyoken’ and ‘mokuteki’ in Chinese ‘Renshi’ correspond to some of the Japanese ‘setsuzoku-jyoshi’, not ‘setsuzokushi’ or ‘setsuzoku-fukushi’. 続きを見る
